IB Physics 1 Assessment Statement Book Expectations
Assessment Statements are the detailed objectives for each topic of study. You will find the assessment statements for each unit on the unit information pages (found under the "Syllabus Information" tab or on the home page). Reminders for which numerical statements are assigned and those due dates will be found on the assignment calendar.
Our notes and our reading assignments (handouts and textbook), as well as labs and other activities done in class will give you information for each of these statements. Questions on all class exams, as well as on the IB Exam, are based on these statements. If you are wondering what you need to know for a unit exam, you simply need to refer to the syllabus statements outline to give you your first clue! :)

What do I do with these Assessment Statements?
At the start of each unit, make sure you have looked at the assessment statement list for the unit we're beginning. (this is typically your only homework on the evening after a unit test) Ideally, you will print these out and have them available for your use in your binder.
In order to "do assessment statements", you will treat each statement as if it were a test question. You will be answering the statements as thoroughly as possible when assigned. On the unit pages, you will also find links to web resources that can provide you more information for these statements if you need more help.

Expectations for Completion:
- You will be answering your assessment statements in a bound composition book dedicated to all statements for the year. This composition book is to be used ONLY for your assessment statements and nothing else!
- Make a title page on the first page of your composition book (for a table of contents), and number your pages
- Start a new page every time we begin a new unit. On the top of that first page for the unit, write the title of the unit and the date we begin the unit.
- Write the Assessment Statement number AND the FULL STATEMENT in ink
- Either Highlight your statement and/or use a separate color ink for the answer. (this makes it MUCH easier to see each statement)
- Answer the statement as if it were a question. Essentially, write an explanation of the statement based on the command term(s) in that statement. Note: if the statement reads: "State that...", do NOT simply re-write the statement. You must Explain why that statement is true and/or explain what that statement means!
- Leave a small space, then write the number and statement of the next one, then answer it. Keep going until the end of the unit's statements, and draw a line after the last statement.
- Please be neat!! Always use INK--do not type your assessment statement answers. Write/print them all out by hand.
- IF your statement answers are incomplete and/or illegible, you will NOT receive credit for completing them.
- All statements for a unit are due the day you take your unit test. You will turn in your composition book with all your statements at the same time you turn in any review assignment and warm-ups that have been given for that unit.
