October Assignments--IB Physics 2
2017-18 School Year

Monday, Oct. 2
work day on lab report (determination of the moment of inertia)

Tuesday, Oct. 3
review of torque, net torque, and moment of inertia
work time on lab report

Wednesday,
Oct. 4

notes/discussion/practice problem:
Atwood machine
Angular momentum

Thursday, Oct. 5

Notes/discussion/practice problems: Angular momentum; rotational kinetic energy; conservation of energy for a ball rolling down an incline.

Friday, Oct. 6
In-class:  finish discussion of rotational dynamics concepts; warm-up question related to rolling ball on incline

HW:  Rotational Motion practice problems packet
Markscheme to the packet--please do not look at this until you've attempted the questions in the packet first!

HW:  WA--Angular momentum, energy, work, power--due Monday
HW:  Lab: moment of inertia--due by Friday, 10/13 by 4 PM.  Turn in a printed hard copy as well as a digital copy to www.turnitin.com
HW:  Mobile project.  Must be turned in no later than Friday, 10/13 by 4 PM.  Hanging product in classroom and a physical copy of the blueprints and calculations.

Monday, Oct. 9
Test:  Rotational Dynamics

Tuesday, Oct. 10
Intro to oscillations and SHM:  preliminary check-point questions

HW:  remember you have a mobile and a lab due by the end of the week. :)
Lab scoring checklist:  this is what will be used when grading your labs--it is directly related to the IA rubric section you were given in class 2 weeks ago.

Wednesday
Oct. 11
PSAT day--only 1st period meets (study hall)

Thursday, Oct. 12
first half:  work on Mobile and lab (I'm going to be late to 1st period...)
2nd half:  intro information for SHM to get ready for lab :)

Friday, Oct. 13
change of plans--computers weren't available for lab.  Lab will begin on Monday.  today, turn in your Mobile.  Turn in your lab.  Turn in your Mobile blueprints/calculations.  Complete peer eval for at least 5 mobiles (If you're in 1st period, do 3 today and you'll do 2 more on Monday since some will be turned in later today).

Rest of period--be academically productive: study hall.  Lab on Monday.

Monday, Oct. 16
Day 1: SHM mathematical model lab

Tuesday, Oct. 17
Rotations test handed back and we went over it together--key will be available in class later this week/early next week
Day 2: SHM mathematical model lab

Wednesday, Oct. 18
Day 3: SHM mathematical model lab
Day 1: SHM kinematics and dynamics lab

remember both labs have questions to be answered in your journal!
HW:  WA: SHM equations of motion--due Wednesday 10 AM

Thursday, Oct. 19
Day 2: SHM kinematics and dynamics lab

Friday, Oct. 20
Day 3: SHM kinematics and dynamics lab

HW:  Remember you have a WA due next Wednesday related to the labs you've been working on.
There are notes posted on the syllabus page that may help you finish.  Please read through these notes before Wednesday's class. :)

Monday, Oct. 23
No School

Tuesday, Oct. 24
Notes and Post-Lab:  SHM equations of motion
HW:  don't forget about the WA due tomorrow
Also--if you don't finish in class, the practice problem (to go in your journal) is due tomorrow.  Practice IB Test question worksheet.

Wednesday, Oct. 25
Due:  WA--SHM equations of motion--end of day

Notes and practice problems: SHM fundamentals and equations of motion

Thursday, Oct. 26

Friday, Oct. 27

Monday, Oct. 30

Tuesday, Oct. 31
