  • Please fill out this survey by next Tuesday
  • Enroll in this year's class for WebAssign.  Go HERE to find info about WebAssign.  If you have an account from last year (because you took general physics), use the same log-in information, and then enroll in this new class.  If you don't have an account, you can create one easily. :)
  • Enroll in this class for www.turnitin.com
  • Optional:  enroll for Remind text reminders.
Please enroll in all of these by next Tuesday.  See Important Digital Information for details about all of these!

Finish posters

When/if you finish early, you can work on the WebAssign.  Computers are available, or you can use your phone for this.
Due Friday:  HW1-Metric Conversions.
Also due Friday:  "Intro to WebAssign"--graded for completion/attempts only.  If you never look at this and try some of the questions, you won't get any credit for it.

Thursday
 Sept. 14
Review of metric units and prefixes

Notes and examples:  Order of Magnitude (OM)
short video--TedEd "Scale of the Universe"
Journal Question--Entrance Q for tomorrow:  How many times will your heart beat in your lifetime?  We measured your heartrate (beats per minute) in class.  Use that value to get an estimated number of lifetime heartbeats.  Show your work for the calculation.  Convert that calculated value to an OM.

Friday, Sept. 15
Due today:  WA #1:  Metric Conversions

Warm-up:  turn and talk--compare your value for the estimated number of heartbeats in your lifetime with your table group members.  Are the values similar? Are the OMs similar?

In class:  Landscaping dilemma activity

HW:  Finish calculations for the Landscaping dilemma if you do not finish in class.
HW:  OM Practice worksheet--due Monday

also, if you have not yet done so, please complete the G4 project survey for student information
