December Assignments--IB Physics 2
2018 - 19 School Year

Monday, Dec. 3
work day on IA (Fowler out sick)

Tuesday, Dec. 4
Due:  1st draft of Personal Engagement and Background portion of your IA--submit it to turnitin by 4 PM today

Lab:  Snell's Law--determination of the index of refraction of a piece of glass; determination of the speed of light through the glass
Analysis due Friday

Wednesday,
Dec. 5
Notes/post-lab discussion:  refraction
Refraction of Light--notes, demos, discussion

Thursday, Dec. 6

Friday, Dec. 7
Lab: Polarization of light
Lab2: Effect of distance on light intensity

Work on both labs.  If you only have time for 1, that's okay--we'll do this again on Monday.
Analysis due Tuesday.

Monday, Dec. 10
Work on lab data collection and/or analysis.
Remember you also have a Refraction packet of IB Questions due tomorrow.

Tuesday, Dec. 11
Go over lab results; inverse square law
Correct refraction packet

Demos: polarized light applications

HW:  WA Refraction of Light -- Due Friday 8 AM
Quiz on Reflection and Refraction of light and mechanical waves on Tuesday next week

Wednesday
Dec. 12

Thursday, Dec. 13
Polarized light demos
intro to e.c. project--create a "stained glass" transparent tape art--we'll use polarized filters after break to look at all of them and pick our favorites. :)  due:  Monday, January 8, 2019.  I will provide the transparent background.  You supply the tape needed for your creation.  e.c. into lab category.

HW:  WA Refraction and Reflection of light--due Monday
Quiz: Tuesday

Friday, Dec. 14
Polarization:  Brewster's angle and Malus' law practice problems
Intro to diffraction of light (if time)

Monday, Dec. 17
conceptual intro to diffraction of light

Tuesday, Dec. 18
Quiz: Reflection, Refraction of light; mechanical wave behavior

Wednesday, Dec. 19
Fun Forces and Motion project :)  or something...

  Dec. 20 - Jan. 1:  Winter Break--No School

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!  See you in January!
