November Assignments--IB Physics 2
2018-19 School Year

Friday, Nov. 1
Work day on lab, WebAssigns, SHM packet, A.S.

Monday, Nov. 4
Review for mid-term
Notebook check will be on Thursday this week; here's what you need in it  (Rubric version)

Tuesday, Nov. 5
No Classes for IB Physics 2 on Tuesday

Wednesday,
Nov. 6

Mid-Term--Q5 Exam: cumulative, part mult. choice, part short answer

Thursday, Nov. 7

Notebook Check
Introduce the IA (see deadlines and info HERE)
Pre-lab for activity tomorrow

Friday, Nov. 8
Interactive notes:  Properties of Mechanical Waves with a Slinky
Supplement your observations in person with the observations you can make using the lab in www.pivotinteractives.com
(If you have not yet registered for the class, find the code for adding yourself to the class HERE)  You are not required to answer the questions in the online lab, as they are very similar to the questions on your lab worksheet. Use the videos and manipulations online to supplement your observations and check your observations' accuracy. The online lab has a slow motion video that helps make some of the things easier to see than in person.

Reminder: Conclusion/Evaluation for either the Pendulum or the Inertial Balance lab is due on WEDNESDAY since I don't see you on Tuesdays.
Scoring checklist/rubric for conclusion/evaluation

Monday, Nov. 11
Veteran's Day--No School

Tuesday, Nov. 12
No Classes for IB Physics 2 on Tuesday

Wednesday
Nov. 13
Post-lab pendulum/inertial balance: talk about the sources of error/uncertainty in each. If you want to modify your conclusion, please re-submit to turnitin and give me a hard copy no later than next Monday in class.

Notes/discussion: Mechanical waves, including post-lab of slinky activity. Keep the Slinky lab sheet in your binder.

Thursday, Nov. 14
Practice problems (IB questions) related to Mechanical wave characteristics done together in class

Friday, Nov. 15
Discuss characteristics of a good IA question
Spend some time modifying IA question--turn in a printed copy of new proposed questions on Monday in class if you make changes.

Reminders of due dates:
due Monday: modified conclusion/evaluation of pendulum or inertial balance (if you have not yet turned it in)
due Monday: A.S. 4.2.1 - 4.2.5
due Monday: WebAssign--Mechanical Waves
due Monday night: submit to turnitin.com your proposed project plan/timeline for your IA.

Monday, Nov. 18

Tuesday, Nov. 19
No Classes for IB Physics 2 on Tuesday

Wednesday, Nov. 20
Pivot labs:
1.  Reflection and superposition--complete, then print off and put in your binder by next Wednesday
2. Advanced Analysis of Transverse Waves--complete online, don't print off (at least, not for now)

During class we will verify your Internal Assessment Question, also.

Thursday, Nov. 21
Continue working on Pivot Interactives labs
Continue discussions finalizing IA questions

Friday, Nov. 22
Quiz: Properties of mechanical waves

Monday, Nov. 25
Intro to Forced Vibrations and Resonance--notes and demos

Tuesday, Nov. 26
No Classes for IB Physics 2 on Tuesday

Wednesday
Nov. 27
short video: Tacoma Narrows Bridge Collapse
Demo: metronome coupled resonance
(video of the idea...that definitely worked better than the one I showed in class!)

spent time going over the Mid-Term.

Thursday, Nov. 28
Happy Thanksgiving! No School!
